Introduces the health care delivery system and (1) the purpose, content, legal and accreditation requirements of health records; (2) the use of health data nomenclatures and classification systems; (3) the organization of registries and indexes. Includes data retrieval, storage and processing systems, quality assurance methodologies, statistical reporting and supervision practices in a health record department. Provides practice in manual and computerized data collection and display techniques. Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.
