PREREQUISITE: Admission to the EMT-Paramedic Program COREQUISITE: Approved anatomy and physiology course(s) This course relates pathophysiology and assessment findings to the formulation of field impressions and implementation of treatment plans for specific medical conditions. Content areas include: endocrinology, allergies and anaphylaxis, behavioral/psychiatric conditions, gynecology, obstetrics, neonatology, pediatrics, and This course introduces issues related to the practice of prehospital advanced life support as a career, with a focus on issues common to all health care professions. Content areas include: paramedic roles and responsibilities, well-being of the paramedic, illness and injury prevention, medical-legal ethical issues, therapeutic communications, and medical terminology. Upon course completion, students will have demonstrated competency in those respective components of the National Standard Curriculum for the EMT-Paramedic and requirements set forth by the Alabama Department of Public Health .
