PREREQUISITE: For those taking English 092, a grade of "C" inENG 092 and appropriate placement score is required. For those not required to take English 092, a minimum score of 38 on the COMPASS exam is required. This course is a review of composition skills and grammar. Emphasis is placed on coherence and the use of a variety of sentence structures in the composing process and on standard American written English usage. Students will demonstrate these skills chiefly through the writing of paragraph blocks and short essays. To complete English 093 and be permitted to take English 101, students must be able to write a satisfactory essay panel-graded by English faculty and must finish the course with a grade of "C," or 70%.
