PREREQUISITE: Permission of the instructor. This course, which may be repeated for credit so long as the topics differ, permits a student to study with an instructor a topic in English language or in literature. Emphasis is placed on a narrowly focused topic in which the instructor has special expertise, knowledge, or interest. Students will demonstrate through a research paper and/or a literary critique an understanding of the topic.
