This course includes introduction to aviation, a review of basic math including algebraic operations, fractions, exponents, roots, and geometric figures. Basic physics review in such areas as simple machines, heat dynamics, fluid and gas laws, work and power. Students will learn to perform weight and balance computations as well as weigh an aircraft. The students will learn concepts of basic electricity such as how to analyze AC and DC circuits and how to read schematics. The student will also learn how to use test equipment to measure voltage, current and resistance. The student will be introduced to the use of technical literature, FAA publications, forms and records, and Federal Regulations pertaining to maintenance personnel. There will be approximately 43 contact hours in lecture and 09 hours in the labs/shop. Prerequisites: None.
