Examines the Nazi campaign to persecute and exterminate European Jews. Includes the broader dimensions of Nazi racial policies aimed at gypsies, Slavs, the disabled, and other groups. Explores the complicity of nations and governments throughout the world, as well as the verdicts at Nuremberg. Seeks to apply the lessons of the Holocaust to current discussions of intolerance, racism, and genocide. Prerequisite: Must be eligible to take ENGL 1010 or consent of instructor. (3 hrs lec)
