An introduction to the basic techniques and approaches to oil and/ or acrylic painting investigating a range of subject matter including still life, landscape, the human figure, and abstraction. Assigned creative projects explore the interrelationships between painting materials, techniques, formal elements and principles, and cognitive meaning inspired by historical and contemporary artistic practice. Prerequisite: None, but drawing and design classes are strongly recommended. Intro to Painting series 281, 282, 283 may be taken in any sequence. WINTER
