An introduction to the basic techniques and approaches to oil and/or acrylic painting in which students investigate meaning/content and the possibility of developing a personal style. Assigned creative projects explore the interrelationships between painting materials, techniques, formal elements and principles, and cognitive meaning inspired by historical and contemporary artistic practice. Prerequisite: None, but drawing and design classes are strongly recommended. Intro to Painting series 281, 282, 283 may be taken in any sequence. SPRING
