Students acquire knowledge of pathophysiology and pharmacology that they can apply to the nursing role. Learners demonstrate an increasing understanding of the effects of fluid and electrolyte and acid-base imbalance, and of diabetes mellitus on the client. Students identify the effects of cardiovascular disease, acute respiratory diseases, renal disorders, and trauma on clients. Students identify nursing roles and responsibilities in administering antidysrhythmics, immunosuppressive, anti-inflammatory agents, cholesterol lowering agents, and drugs used to treat critical complications such as cardiac arrest and anaphylaxis. Prerequisite: Completion of all first year nursing program course requirements with a "C" grade or better. Corequisite: NUR 201 and 215. FALL
