Aikido is a Japanese discipline stressing coordination of mind and body. Meditation, breath control and movement exercises are some of the techniques used to reach this goal. The movement exercises include a number of circular flowing throws as well as wrist and arm restraints. Aikido stresses rhythm, balance and coordination rather than physical strength, making it appropriate for women and men of any age, size or physical condition.
