(3 Credits) An introduction to the theory and practice of counseling. This course will present a comprehensive introduction to the counseling profession. Students will explore the foundations of counseling, the counseling process, theories and techniques used in the counseling process. Counseling students will become familiar with career, school, group, individual, family and substance abuse counseling through lectures, class activities and role play. Legal and ethical issues will be discussed. (Prerequisites: ENG120, HUS111, HUS114, PSY111 or POI)
