Introduces the student to the role of the nurse and the use of theories of Roy and Maslow. Focuses on the assessment and maintenance of indicators of positive adaptation of individuals across the life span, including the childbearing and childrearing family within a multi-cultural society. Concepts of effective communication, collaboration, problem solving, and critical thinking are introduced. Prerequisite: Admission into the Nursing program; NUR 115 Lecture: 4.5 hours Laboratory: 1.5 hours Laboratory: 6.0 hours (course fee required)
