Introduction to current automated manufacturing and process techniques is provided, such as the integration of continuous quality improvement principles in the design process of a manufacturing operation. Major topics will address the concepts of computerized, integrated manufacturing and process control. Other topics covered are CAD/CNC, team-group approach, software integration, product planning and handling. Supportive elements such as computer usage in the automation process, sensors, networks, communication protocol and controllers also are covered. (formerly MTT) Lecture: 2 hours Laboratory: 2 hours (course fee required)
