Allowable Times for Credit: 1.00 Maximum Credits Allowed: ACH: 120.00- Lab: 3.00- Credits: 5.00- Contact Hrs: 7.00- Lecture: 4.00- Minimum grade of C in HEED 131 and HEED 132 or permission of appropriate instructional Dean; Required Co-requisites, PARA 101 and PARA 102. Prerequisite: This course will discuss the assessment and treatment of trauma patients and the paramedic's role in caring for these clients. This course will integrate pathophysiological principles and assessment finding to formulate a field impression and implement a treatment plan for a suspected trauma patient. Topics of discussion will include: epidemiology, anatomy and physiology, physical assessment and management techniques relative to the type of trauma. The assessment and treatment of health related issues to specific age groups will also be covered. [Semesters Offered: Fall]
