The main focus of this course is to give students an understanding of the emergence of the institution of social welfare by tracing its historical roots. This course will explore the historical development of social welfare in the Old and New Worlds. Social welfare policies and programs within the United States will be reviewed along with a discussion of the values underlying the existing systems. [Semesters Offered:Winter]
