3 credits. 3 hours. (Lecture 3 hours.) Prerequisite: SIGN 110. A course designed to focus on the research of linguistic inquiry such as phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics and use of language. Students will learn the fundamental concepts of linguistics and its application to the study of American Sign Language. Students also will compare and contrast basic similarities and differences between American Sign Language and English with a goal to develop critical thinking about the structure of American Sign Language.
