4 credits. 5 hours. (Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 2 hours.) Prerequisite: CSIS 213. CCNP 3: Multilayer Switching is the third of four courses leading to the Cisco Certified Network Professional (CNP) designation. CNP 3 introduces students tot he deployment of the state-of-the-art campus LANs. The course focuses on the selection and implementation of the appropriate Cisco IOS services to build reliable scalable multilayer-switched LANs. Students will develop skills with VLANs, VTP, STP, inter-VLAN routing, multilayer switching, redundancy, Cisco AVVID solutions, QoS issues, campus LAN security, and emerging transparent LAN services. This hands-on lab-oriented course stressed the design, implementation, operation, and troubleshooting of switched and routed environments.
