This course is an introduction to the scholarship and theory on the history, status, contributions, and experiences of women in diverse cultural communities. The significance of gender as a social construct and as an analytical category is examined. Some of the topics include gender socialization and sexuality, women's health and reproduction, women's self-images and self-esteem, and women'swork and creativity.
