This course is a basic course in medical diagnostic microbiology, with greater emphasis on bacteriology. The microorganisms most frequently isolated in the clinical laboratory are studied along with the methods used in their identification. Susceptibility testing and anaerobes are also included. Lab experience is emphasized. Human pathogens other than bacterial are introduced, such as viral and fungal. This course is restricted to Medical Laboratory Technician students. Prerequisites: BIOL1415 is highly recommended.
