The Minnesota Police Officers Standards and Training Board certifies the Law Enforcement Skills program. The program is ten weeks in length and gives prospective peace officers the maximum amount of hands-on training in the practical aspects of law enforcement necessary to qualify for licensure in Minnesota. It focuses on exposing the participants to many situations that a patrol officer may encounter. This program may be the most demanding portion of prospective peace officers' career preparation. Participants who successfully complete the Skills training program are eligible to take the Minnesota Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) license examination.
