This course is a comprehensive background of the dominant influences and characteristics of historical interiors, ornamental design, and architecture. The primary emphasis of this course is to understand art, architecture, and interiors beginning with the international periods of the second half of the eighteenth century through today. Learners study furniture construction and design in conjunction with detailing and working drawings for furniture and custom designed interior cabinetry. Construction of three-dimensional models is included when feasible. Prerequisite: IDES1632
