This course meets Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) goal area 3. This course is an introduction to the basic life process at the cellular level, including membranes, energy and enzyme metabolism, respiration, photosynthesis, cell division and regulation, genetics, and genetic engineering. The course addresses animal behavior, ecology, the biosphere, conservation biology, and an introduction to evolution and organism classification. Laboratory work is included. This course is for science majors or those with a background in biology. A basic knowledge of chemistry is suggested.
