This course meets Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) goal area 3. This course is an introduction to microbiology and microevolution. The course includes a comprehensive introduction to the plant kingdom, plant evolution, plant nutrition and transport, plant reproduction, and the control of plant growth. This course has an emphasis on organ systems, with a comparison of invertebrate and vertebrate systems. Organism diversity is presented within an evolutionary context. Laboratory work is included. This course is for science majors or those with a background in biology. A basic knowledge of chemistry is suggested.
