Prerequisite: Consent of program coordinator The course is designed to introduce the student to the basic techniques in interviewing, counseling and treatment therapies used in the mental health and social work fields. It is composed of two parts: a theory and a field experience. The theory will introduce the theoretical background for interviewing, counseling and treatment therapies. The field experience will provide the practicum. The student will be assigned a field placement in one of the cooperating mental health agencies for a minimum of 90 clock hours per semester.
