Prerequisite: MUS 1630 This course covers the fundamentals of jazz improvisation through a series of exercises and in-class performances. The techniques addressed include the blues and the blues scale, the II-V-I and similar chord progressions, and the use of chord tones, and select scales and modes to improvise solo lines.
