General Education Attributes.2, 4, 6, 8 In this course, we will examine religious beliefs and practices to demonstrate their value in a particular cultural setting as well as to lay a basis for cross-cultural comparison. Witchcraft and associated magical beliefs and practices will be studied with different cultures. These variations will be analyzed to ascertain if there are parallel beliefs and practices found in dissimilar cultures. Tribal myths and religious rituals will also be studied for aesthetic reasons, to examine connections between art, music and literature within a culture and to allow for crosscultural comparisons of religious phenomena.
