Nursing Concepts, Skills, and Processes is an introduction to the practice of professional nursing through lecture, laboratory, and clinical experiences. The course focuses on learning about patient needs, practicing introductory nursing skills, and applying those skills and concepts in clinical experiences. Instructional methods introduce students to the eight central competencies essential to nursing practice: professional behavior, communication, assessment, clinical decision, caring intervention, teaching and learning, collaboration, and managing care. Clinical opportunities are specific to the adult population in acute and long-term care facilities.
