Description:
Prerequisite: Acceptance to the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program. The theory and practice of selected occupational therapy interventions for specified populations will form the basis for this course including specific developmental, pediatric, sensory motor, psychosocial, and mental health techniques. Group process skills, helpful interviewing, conflict resolution, group dynamics, and therapeutic use of the self, developmental therapy, remediation of sensory processing disorders and interventions for school age children will be highlighted. A review of pertinent clinical conditions and effects on occupational functioning will be included. Two lecture hours and three laboratory hours a week. Credit: Three semester hours.
