Prerequisite: GS 2714. This course is a study in metal preparation techniques and chemical processes as they relate to metal finishing. A wide range of metal finishing processes including hot caustic immersion blueing, rust blueing, antique browning, electroless nickel plating, and zinc phosphate coating (parkerizing) will be covered during this course. Metal preparation utilizing both hand and power techniques, equipment, and safety factors will also be covered. Two lecture and three laboratory hours a week. Credit: Three semester hours.
