Prerequisite: CJ 1433. This course covers the steps in probating a will or administering an estate. Items covered teach a student to assemble the information necessary for collecting and evaluating assets; maintain proper records for accounting purposes; prepare pleadings for the initial petition and appointment of an administrator and executor, sale of assets, mortgage of assets, and lease of assets; and prepare estate tax returns. Three lecture hours a week. Credit: Three semester hours.
