3 Credits (2-0-3) This course is designed to study the characteristics, manipulation, and application of dental materials ordinarily used in dental offices. Students will be given intra and xray-oral technical tasks to perform. Upon completion, students should be able to successfully take preliminary impressions, understand the properties and demonstrate the manipulation of dental materials, pour and trim study casts, successfully take occlusal registrations, construct custom trays and provisional restorations, clean and polish removable appliances and prostheses. The procedure in this course are taught to Pre-Clincial or laboratory competence. Prerequisite: Admission to DAT program, permission of instructor and appropriate grade.
