Designed to prepare students to teach the non-geometric mathematics included in a modern NCTM STANDARDS based K-8 curriculum. Emphasis will be on the structure of arithmetic, development of good number sense, basic number theory, understanding probability and the use of descriptive statistics. Focuses on problem solving, and the development of arithmetic and algebraic reasoning skills. (3 lec, 0 lab) Prerequisite: Appropriate score on placement test, or Grade of C or better in MAT 100, or equivalent.
