EMS 210 - Paramedic Emergencies I

Provides an introduction to emergency pharmacology and an in-depth study of the pathophysiology of airway and pulmonary disease and disorders. Topics covered include the physiology, assessment and treatment of breathing disorders. In the lab, students learn advanced airway procedures such as endotracheal intubation, CPAP, Capnography and clinical decision making. Students completing the course will meet and exceed the objectives of the Maine EMS Paramedic Interfacility Transfer Module (PIFT). (There may be additional cost for ACLS certification.) (30 lec hours, 15 lab hours) Pre-requisites: EMS 201, EMS 202, EMS 205, EMS 206, currently licensed/licensable as an EMT-Intermediate, successful completion of all NEEMS required preadmission testing, and advisor approval
