3 credit hours Prerequisite: ENG 121 with 'C' or better orequivalent assessment score and [PSY 101 or 102 or SOC 101 or 102] Acquaints students with the major issues and concepts pertinent to the field of gerontology. The course introduces various theoretical perspectives on aging, the changing trends in life expectancy and other demographic considerations, and the interrelationship between elders and key social institutions. It provides an overview of physical, cognitive, and socioemotional factors associated with aging.
