Presents an introduction to the principles and procedures for the veterinary practice laboratory. Emphasis is placed on laboratory safety; handling specimens; technical skills in hematology, cytology, clinical chemistry, serology, parasitology, and radiology; maintaining laboratory equipment; and quality control principles and practices. Topics include: handling of laboratory specimens and laboratory safety, principles of hematology and cytology, clinical chemistry, principles of serology, principles of urinalysis, principles of parasitology, and principles of radiology. Any grade below a "C" is unacceptable in the Veterinary Technology Program and the course must be retaken for the completion of the degree.
