This course introduces the principles of personal development and professional development including therapeutic communications, legal aspects, ethical concepts, and nursing responsibilities with the patient, family, and coworkers emphasized. Vocational responsibilities of the practical nurse including nursing organizations of the local, state, and national level are introduced. Concepts from this course are integrated in all nursing courses. This course is a prerequisite to all subsequent term courses.
