9 credit hours Prerequisite: NUR 109, 112, MAT 103, HPR 108 Introduces nursing students to roles of the nurse in assessing and meeting medical/surgical nursing needs of adults across the life span in various health care settings. Students learn nursing concepts to assist the patient in achieving optimal functioning. Knowledge from foundational nursing, the sciences, pharmacology and nutrition, along with the continued integration of mental health and cultural concepts, provides foundations for nursing care planning for medical and surgical clients.
