With continued emphasis on assessment, the focus of this course is on planning, implementing, and evaluating strategies to promote, maintain, and restore optimum health for pediatric clients from diverse socio-cultural backgrounds experiencing variations and alterations in life functions. The course evolves around nursing, nursing process, and pediatric clients experiencing variations and alterations in specified life functions: fluid/gas transport elimination, nutritional/metabolism, sensory, activity, and protective. Health promotion, growth and development, legal- ethical issues, therapeutic communication techniques, and management strategies specific to the care of the pediatric client are incorporated into the plan of care for pediatric clients.
