This is an introductory course covering the principles of operation, maintenance, construction, and regulation of steam boilers and gas heating systems. The basic principles of metallurgy, materials selection and utilization combined with the operational concepts of fire tube, water tube, and hot water heating boilers are discussed. Emphasis is placed on details of construction, a knowledge of fuels, AGA specifications, firing controls and programmers, operational problems, and repair and maintenance of steam boilers and heating systems.
