This course is a practical study of facilities planning with emphasis on the most efficient arrangement of work areas to achieve the lowest production costs. Topics covered are equipment location, material handling, automatic storage and retrieval, bar coding, capital requirements, personnel organization, and safety. Computer-aided design problems are performed and utilization of advanced CAD techniques are emphasized.
