This course covers fundamentals of Basic Life Support as used by the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Instruction Cardiopulmonar resuscitation (CPR) interfacing basic CPR with advanced life support methods such as automatic defibrillation, mechanical airway adjuncts, etc. are included. An overview of t he Tennessee EMS regulatory structure, including Tennessee Department of Emergency Medical Services rules and regulations is provided. Also instruction on the Memphis-Shelby County EMS system, personal safety and EMS equipment are covered. Corequisite: EMT 1040.
