ETEC 1620 - Adv Electricity For Elect Wrkr

Institution:
Southwest Tennessee Community College
Subject:
Description:
This course begins with a review of DC electric circuits, Ohm's law, Kirchhoff's law, and terminology used. An introduction to the concept of alternating current (AC) with emphasis on sinusoidal waveform and its properties is presented. AC electric circuits containing resistor , inductor (L), and capacitor is covered in detail. Voltage and current relationship of a RL, RC, and RLC circuit is covered. Single phase versus three phase calculations such as the relationship between apparent power (VA), real power (N), and reactive power (VAR) are studied. The concepts of power triangle and power factor are covered in detail. An introduction to single phase and three phase transformers used in power distribution is covered. Different types of transformer connections are examined. A basic introduction to single phase and three phase induction motors with emphasis on applications will be covered.
