This hands-on course covers gas and electric arc welding, joint preparation and proper welding positions, welding machines and electrode selection. The application of Oxygen-acetylene Welding (OAW); Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAQ); Gas Tungsten Welding (GTAW); Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) and stud preparation are presented. Welding chemistry, metallurgy, inspection processes and heat treating processes are discussed. This course is conducted in a welding lab. Note: Welding students will need to provide their own protective gear (welding hood, goggles and clothing.)
