This course focuses on mechanical theory and practice for maintenance, inspection and repair of mechanical components of industrial machinery. Course topics include terminology, mechanical theory, components, tools, measurement instruments and inspection and repair techniques. Mechanical components include belts, chains, gears, gear boxes, clutches, shafts, couplings, bearings, and fasteners. Also included are the fundamentals of lubrication, and pneumatic and hydraulic system basics. Tools include wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, drills, punches, files, and taps & dies. Measurement instruments include rules, vernier calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
