16 0183 - Empowerment and Accountability

Institution:
Southwest Tennessee Community College
Subject:
Description:
Many leaders talk about empowering their employees, but often employees feel disempowered. Why One reason is that when leaders empower they often are actually delegating. Yes, both include an assignment being given to one or more individuals, but empowerment includes giving the individual(s) both the authority and autonomy on how the assignment will be completed. The natural conflict arises as the leader wants to maintain control and the individuals being empowered want the authority and autonomy to complete the assignment. This interactive study will teach you how to empower others so that more productivity, effectiveness and motivation result. Prerequisite: Currently, or will be, in a team leader, manager or senior leader role where a group reports directly to you. 0.300 Continuing Education Units 3.000 Lecture hours Levels: Continuing Education Schedule Types: Lecture Continuing Education College Continuing Education Department Course Attributes: CEU Career Development, Supplemental Course
