This is a comprehensive and practical approach to all gas fired equipment, its design, application and performance. This course is intended to help students involved with installation, maintenance and service of gas heating equipment and those wanting to prepare for the Memphis/Shelby County Master Gas Fitters license exam. The course includes both classroom instruction and practical laboratory demonstrations. Local and international codes that regulate gas-fired equipment will be reviewed in detail. There are no prerequisites for taking this course, but field experience is required for students scheduling to take the code exam. The local code office should be contacted for these requirements. Please note: Individuals who want to take a Memphis/Shelby County licensing exam must apply at the Office of Construction Code Enforcement, 6465 Mullins Station, approximately 60 days in advance of the exam date. Applicants must have related work experience certified by a license holder. For more information, call (901) 379-4267.
