One of the most essential requirements of an equipment technician is the ability to read and transmit mechanical images on paper, and to relate this information to a print. The ability to assemble, fabricate, or order a part/machine from a working print is essential. A knowledge of print reading will serve as an attribute to the technician's technical "skill set". In this course, the student will be introduced to the basic techniques and fundamentals of drafting and print reading, lettering techniques, types of drawing instruments and orthographic projection, drawing layout procedures, freehand technical sketching, thread representation and specification, and callouts for machine processes. Technicians in an industrial or manufacturing setting would benefit from this training.
