This course combines basic industrial instrumentation and controls theory with hands-on training in the laboratory. Course topics include level, pressure, temperature, and flow measurement and basic control strategies. Laboratory exercises will cover measurement exercises, instrument calibration, thermocouples, resistance thermo detectors (RTD's), wiring, tube bending, and troubleshooting. Safety will be emphasized throughout the course. This course is designed to provide experienced electricians with a basic knowledge of industrial instrumentation and controls. A sound working knowledge of DC and AC electricity is needed to be successful in this course.
