This course helps the student prepare for both the Memphis/Shelby County First-Class or Third Class Steam Operating Engineer license exam. Topics include high pressure and low pressure boiler operations, piping design, safety, steam traps, code compliance, and prevention of explosions. Learning will be facilitated through practice on required calculations. Please note: Individuals who want to take a Memphis/Shelby County licensing exam must apply at the Office of Construction Code Enforcement, 6465 Mullins Station, approximately 60 days in advance of the exam date. Applicants must have related work experience certified by a license holder. For more information, call (901) 379-4267.
