The course is designed to provide students with an overview of the surgical environment and operating room team. Emphasis will be placed on the history of surgery, hospital organization, the O.R. team, communication, teamwork, group dynamics, leadership, conflict resolution, professional organization and management, professionalism, ethical, moral and legal obligations, risk management, HIPAA, legal documentation, specimen care, computer skills and fire safety.
